AR Rahman Files A 10 Crore Defamation Suit

AR Rahman, one of India’s leading composers has slammed a 10 crore defamation case against the Association of Surgeons India (ASICON).

ASICON had recently filed a complaint against AR Rahman for not refunding an amount. Come, let’s find out more about it.

As per reports, ASICON has recently filed a complaint against Rahman at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office for not refunding the amount of Rs 29.50 lakh which the legendary musician collected as an advance fee to perform at the Annual National Conference of Associations of Surgeons of India in 2018 in Chennai.

Narmadha Sampath, Rahman’s counsel on Tuesday stated that the renowned musician has never entered into any transaction or contractual agreement with ASICON and denied the allegation that he was booked for a show and paid an advance.

Indian Express also states that the surgeons’ body claimed that Rahman agreed to provide a refund and gave post-dated cheques which bounced and his team had promised to settle the amount but they have not paid any refund even after five years.

AR Rahman’s lawyer has denied all the allegations and also stated that considering the nature of his work which requires him to remain in the public eye, it is immeasurably damaging for his career if he is subjected to any false and frivolous allegations.

The lawyer also sent out a notice that read, “The police complaint and the instant notice all are aimed with a single agenda just to defame the good reputation built by my client over a period of time.”

Further, they are asked to issue a public apology and pay Rs 10 crore as damages for defaming the good reputation of Rahman failing which, they will be subjected to legal proceedings.
