Zara Hatke Zara Bachke Movie Review

Sara Ali Khan-Vicky Kaushal have good romantic chemistry. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is a decently entertaining, family-friendly, one-time watch. But some of the comedy feels forced and the plot drags in the 2nd half.

What Do We Think:

Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is a decently engaging, one-time watch. The family banter in the film is hilarious and the supporting cast really gives it the authentic, small-town flavour.

The comedy is a hit-and-miss though. Some of the punchlines feel forced and fall flat. Especially the scenes with the lawyer yelling his head off in the courtroom – instead of coming across as funny, it feels rather annoyingly OTT.

Just like Kedarnath, Sara Ali Khan fits into the role of a small-town girl quite smoothly. She’s good in the comic and romantic scenes but is overshadowed by Vicky in the emotional sequences. Vicky Kaushal is excellent and natural in this comic role as the stingy yet sweetheart, love-struck husband. No complaints about Sara-Vicky romantic chemistry – they complement each other quite well.

In the supporting cast – Inaammulhaq as the shady agent is hilarious and hits all the right notes. Sharib Hashmi gives a decent performance too. While the premise is engaging and the interval block is promising, the plot starts to flounder in the 2nd half. The ending is sweet and feel-good but rather predictable and safe.

Coming to the songs – Saanjha is a touching composition and Phir Aur Kya Chahiye is beautiful too but the rest of the songs don’t register. Overall, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is entertaining but it had the potential to be more funny.

Hit Or Miss:

Zara Hatke Zara Bachke makes for a timepass one-time watch. It is a light-hearted, slice-of-life, family-friendly comedy.
