Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger has a really wacky plot that feels more like a Tiger film?

Director: Puri Jagannadh
Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy
Rating: 2/5
Runtime: 2 hour 18 mins
Storyline:
Liger (Vijay) is an ambitious chaiwala who wishes to become a renowned MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter. While he excels in terms of his physique and combat skills, he happens to suffer from stammering, which people mock at.
His fierce Mother (Ramya) pushes him towards coach (Ronit Roy). Coach and his mother both advise him to focus on MMA championship and stay away from love and chamdi matter. So far, so good.

Enter Ananya Pandey as Tanya, a cringe AF social media celebrity who traps Liger into her pyaar ka jaal. She is also the sister of his rival. And boy, things go downhill from here on…
To make things even more bizarre – we have Business Tycoon Papa Chunky Panday, random kidnappings, an all-girl fighter gang and Mike Tyson in a cameo as a COWBOY villain in the ending sequences! Make of that what you will.
What Do We Think?
Instead of the classic underdog’s journey to success, we’re treated to a weird plot that’s neck-to-neck with Heropanti 2.
Vijay Deverakonda looks MAJORLY hot and his physical transformation is commendable. Wish the plot was not as nonsensical. Liger had the potential to be hugely entertaining – if they’d explored the hardship, training angle of the story more.
Instead it chases after the romantic track which is awful and cringe-filled. Moreover, there’s no chemistry between Ananya-Vijay. Ananya appears in a vapid, flowerpot role that does her no favours.
The music is forgettable too. Instead of the massy actioner that was promised, Liger’s weak screenplay reduces it to a ‘random’ AF comedy, especially in the climax. I’m still facepalming at Mike Tyson’s cameo.
Hit Or Miss:
Unless you’re a hardcore Vijay Deverakonda fan, this one is a miss. Maybe watch Karthikeya 2 instead.
