Ayushmann Khurrana’s Anek movie initiates a crucial conversation amongst the masses!
While some movies fill the desires of commerce, some come in to serve a larger purpose. Anubhav Sinha’s Anek can be credited to do the latter.
The film released last Friday, receiving reactions that have been polarising on social media with setting up its successful attempt to educate the audiences about the much-ignored issues of the North East. The film talks about considering one’s identity as an Indian which then goes deeper into its many purposes.
Anek not only got some great reviews from critics but the director, Anubhav Sinha is receiving great responses from cinephiles and intelligentsia for making the film. The film holds all the credit to bring the theme of inclusivity, being the first mainstream film that highlights the turbulence of the North East. Moreover, sticking to its subject, the majority of the film’s key cast hails from the region.

Trade reviewers are eyeing a lifetime cumulative of approximately 18 to 20 crores, which will drag the film in a secured space as the film is mounted smartly on a correct budget.
Anek has achieved its move to initiate a conversation very efficiently. Be it a feeling of alienation by the mainstream, the political ignorance of the region, or othering, the film has highlighted multiple regional issues. Andrea Kevichusa’s character also shows how the brilliant sportsmen from the region have limited access and very limited opportunities. As the zone has been placed in front for the first time with this mainstream Bollywood film it will pave the way for more conversation to ensue on the subject. Anek’s win is its ability to get people thinking.
The film will mark yet another attempt by the director-actor duo Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khurrana to deliver strong issue after Article 15. And this time also the dynamic duo has been appreciated a lot to shed light on the socio-political conflicts in the northeast.
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa in the lead, Anek is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks.
