Akshay Kumar‘s upcoming historical drama – Prithviraj underwent a title change 1 week before its release.
Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Akshay essays the titular role of Prithviraj Chauhan in this movie.
Previously, Karni Sena had raised objections over the title of Akshay & Manushi’s upcoming movie Prithviraj. Reportedly, the Rajput organization demanded to change the movie title ‘Prithviraj’ into the full name of the great king Rajput Prithviraj Chauhan.
The move came after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by Shree Rajput Karni Sena, through Advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra.
Prithviraj marks the Bollywood debut of Miss World 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar as Princess Sanyogita. Sonu Sood will be seen as Chand Vardai while Sanjay Dutt essays the trusted saamant – Kaka Kanha.
Prithviraj New Title:
After numerous discussions, Yash Raj Films – producers of the Akshay Kumar starrer – considering the sentiment and demand of the Rajput community, has agreed to change the film name from Prithviraj to Samrat Prithviraj.
On Friday (May 27), YRF announced the change through a public letter addressed to Rajput organisation, Karni Sena. Take a look:
