Aayush Sharma’s grandfather Pandit Sukh Ram Sharma has passed away at the age of 94 after suffering a brain stroke.
He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on May 7, 2022.
The news of Pandit Sukh Ram’s demise was shared by Aayush’s brother, Aashray Sharma, on Facebook. “Adieu Grandfather, Now phone will not ring (Alvida Dadajee Abhi Nahi Bajegee Phone Ki Ghanti),” he wrote.
Late Pandit Sukh Ram Sharma – veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister – was the first man who made the first mobile phone call in India. On July 31, 1995, during Pandit Sukh Ram’s tenure, the first-ever mobile phone call was made between the former Union Telecom Minister, Sukh Ram, and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Jyoti Basu.
Penning a heartfelt note in his memory, Aayush took to Instagram and wrote, “With a very heavy heart I bid farewell to my beloved Dadaji Pandit Sukh Ram Sharma. Even though you’re gone, I know you’ll always be with me, guiding me, looking over me and blessing me like you always do. Rest in peace dadaji, you will be dearly missed.”
May his soul rest in peace.
