Anupam Kher has now opened up on the Kapil Sharma Show vs The Kashmir Files controversy.
For the unversed, the TKF director Vivek Agnihotri had alleged that the show had refused to promote his film since it lacked a ‘big, commercial star’.
Anupam Kher Clarifies:
Anupam then clarified that he was asked to be on The Kapil Sharma show, however, given that the seriousness of the film wouldn’t sync with the show format, the veteran actor felt he couldn’t go.
“To be very honest I must say it here I was called to be on the show. Maine Harman, jo mere manager hai, usko kaha tha ki ‘Ye film bari serious hai, main isme nahi ja sakta hun (I had told Harman, my manager, ‘This film is very serious, I can’t go on the show)’. So I want to put my point over here. It happened around two months ago that I was told ‘Aap aa jaiye (Please come)’.
I don’t think Kapil has any malice towards us or towards the film,” Anupam said in an interview.
But when Kapil thanked Anupam ji for clarifying against the allegations, the actor took a subtle dig at him for posting only the favourable snippet from the video, a half-truth!
In the longer version of the clip, Anupam had specified that the official reason given to Vivek was that their film lacked big stars.
Vivek also said that that’s what The Kashmir Files producer Zee Studios had told him.
The Kashmir Files Box Office Report:
