From Vivah, Jab We Met, Kaminey to Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh and Haider – Shahid has shown great versatility in his roles. But did you know he turned down some great films that turned out to be a hit at the box office later?
1) Rang De Basanti
Shahid Kapoor was first offered the role of Karan Singhania / Bhagat Singh which eventually went to Siddharth.
“I regret not doing the film. They wanted me to play the role of Siddharth. I’d cried while reading the script and loved it, but unfortunately couldn’t make time for it,” he had revealed in an interview.
2) Rockstar
The iconic Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar as well as Jab We Met was offered by Imtiaz Ali to Shahid Kapoor to choose from. He decided to work on the rom-com instead.

3) Raanjhanaa
While the public opinion is divided over Raanjhanaa, Dhanush surely made an impactful Bollywood debut with this Sonam Kapoor-starrer.
However, Shahid rejected the film when it was offered to him.
4) Shuddh Desi Romance
Shahid wasn’t too sure about doing this film and had date issues and hence ended up saying a ‘no’ to it. The film was eventually headlined by the Late Sushant Singh Rajput.
5) Bang Bang
Bang Bang was the Hindi remake of the Hollywood movie Knight And Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.
Shahid Kapoor was the first choice for this Hrithik Roshan actioner, but since he was afraid of being compared to Tom Cruise, he turned it down.
