Lata Mangeshkar – celebrated as the Nightingale of India – was admitted to the ICU of the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai earlier in January.
The legendary singer has passed away today (February 6) at the age of 92.
According to reports, Lata ji had suffered a multi-organ failure last night. As per HT, the hospital authorities revealed that the iconic singer breathed her last at 8:12 am.
Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating late Lata ji at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, shared the sad news and stated, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post #COVID19”
Late Lata Ji had tested positive for Covid-19 and being treated for pneumonia as well. In late January, she had showed signs of improvement and was removed from the ventilator. However, on Saturday, her health deteriorated once again and was put on ventilator support.
