Vidya Balan & Shefali Shah – two of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood – have teamed up for a movie.
Titled ‘Jalsa’, the said movie is directed by ‘Tumhari Sulu’ fame Suresh Triveni.
Touted to a thriller drama, ‘Jalsa’ apparently chronicles the story of class differences in society. Reportedly, Vidya plays the role of a TV news anchor, while Shefali will be seen essaying the role of her maid. The story moves forward when Shefali’s son dies in an accident.
Now, we hear that the makers have supposedly decided to skip the theatre release of this film. If this Peeping Moon report is to be believed, ‘Jalsa’ will apparently have a direct-to-digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video in March 2022.

The success of her previous two movies, Shakuntala Devi and Sherni, which also premiered straight on Amazon Prime Video, has proven that a solid content film works and wins hearts irrespective of whether it is released in theatres or on a web platform. Moreover, Jalsa’s promising and high-quality theme is not something theatre audiences usually vie for, and hence the makers decided to give it a worldwide release on OTT.”

Produced by Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment, ‘Jalsa’ sees Vidya’s ‘Tumahri Sulu’ co-star Manav Kaul in a cameo role. The movie also features Iqbal Khan, Gurpal Singh among others in pivotal roles.
