Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt had spent three years (from 2013 to 2016) behind bars for illegal possession of weapons in a 1993 case.
In 2013, the actor surrendered and was imprisoned in Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail.
However, the actor did one very good deed in prison and he opened up about it in 2018 when he appeared as a special guest on an episode of Entertainment Ki Raat Season 2. The show was hosted by Tisca Chopra and in conversation with her, Dutt revealed how he made money in prison!
He said, “We used to make paper bags there, from newspapers. I used to get 20 paise per bag.”
Sanjay then revealed that he would make around 50 to 100 paper bags in a day. “In three and a half or four years that I was there, that (the money he made making paper bags) was around ₹400-500, I gave it all to my wife. Because this earning I can’t get anywhere else. Those 500 rupees for me are worth ₹5000 Crores,” he said.
Talking about how to maintain positivity in prison he said, “You can’t keep sitting there and keep wondering why this happened with me. You need to forget all that. Turn that into something positive. Make jail into a positive experience and learn something there.“
On the work front, Sanjay will be seen on the big screen in movies such as Shamshera and K.G.F: Chapter 2.
