Storyline

Antim: The Final Truth spotlights the plight of the Indian farmers and the crisis they’re going through. Rahulya (Aayush Sharma) is witness to his father (Sachin Khedekar), a lowly farmer who is trying to support his family, losing his land to an influential businessman. Naturally, seeing the grief his father was in, Rahulya makes it his mission to join hands with Pune’s (a city in Maharashtra) biggest underworld mafia commanded by Nanya Bhai (Upendra Limaye). At first, the young lad’s sole goal was to avenge his father’s sufferings and give back good to the society that had everything taken away from it. However, as he climbs up the ranks in the gang, the power gets to him and the avenging takes a back seat.

Then we have Inspector Rajveer Singh (Salman Khan), who makes it his mission to catch Rahulya and imprison him once and for all. However, the closer he gets to his goal each time, the harder it becomes for Singh to complete it. All Rajveer wants is to eradicate villains but the only difficulty he faces is a certain don named Rahulya. Despite catching a hold of him numerous times, the latter always manages to escape. That is until one fine day, Rajveer has had enough.

What do we think?

Salman Khan ditches his usual fun cop role for some serious thriller action in Antim. It’s a new look for the actor, a Sardar cop, replacing his signature feroza patthar bracelet for a kada that is very significant in the film. Naturally, you know the action is going to be well done when it’s a Salman Khan film. The case remains the same here. An exceedingly good part of the film is that Khan does not overshadow the gangster role of Aayush Sharma.

Coming to Aayush’s Rahulya character, it is a never before seen one and has quite the ‘bad boy’ vibe to it. A stark contrast from his role in his debut Loveyatri, this film is packed with more punches, chiseled body features and threatening dialogues. Over all, Aayush’s performance is commendable and suits well beside Salman. Mahesh Manjrekar’s direction adds all the right Bollywood masala, in all the right places, without making it feel unrealistic or extreme.

Hit or Miss

Anitm: The Final Truth has all the right elements to make this the perfect cop-gangster film but, we doubt the entertainment factor and feel a second watch might not be in the cards. However, this action packed thriller is a great movie if you’re ever in need to relax and fangirl over Salman… and now Aayush too!
