Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is coming up with the ‘desi’ adaptation of the popular American ‘Archie Comics’.
The ‘Gully Boy’ director is all set to helm the Indian adaptation of ‘Archie Comics’ for Netflix. Set in the 1960s, ‘The Archies’ is a coming-of-age musical drama film.
On Thursday (November 11), Netflix took to Instagram to announce the project and wrote, “Get your milkshakes ready 🥤 because Archie and the gang are about to get down and desi in “The Archies”.”
While they didn’t reveal anything about the cast, it was earlier reported that Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Sridevi-Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda will make their debut with the film. Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan’s name had also cropped up earlier.
‘Archie comics’ revolves around the story of Archie Andrews and his friends- Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, along with other fictional characters from Riverdale.
‘The Archies’ is being produced by Zoya Akhtar & Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby and Sharad Devarajan’s Graphic India.
