Yuvika Chaudhary recently hit the headlines after she was arrested by the Haryana Police.
She was booked under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) for making offensive remarks in her vlog.
The controversy actually arose in May 2021 when Yuvika had used a casteist slur while doing a Youtube vlog with her husband Prince Narula. The actress had later apologised for using the term, saying she hadn’t known the meaning of the word.

However, #ArrestYuvikaChoudhary had trended on Twitter for quite some time after the controversy. She was arrested now after Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist filed a complaint.
Yuvika is currently released on interim bail though. Her lawyer said – “My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now (in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform).”
Recently, even former cricketer Yuvraj Singh was briefly arrested and then released on bail after action was initiated against his old video. He had used a casteist remark against cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal.
Yuvraj had also issued a formal apology afterwards – “I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same.”
