Veteran actress Farrukh Jaffar, who featured in several Hindi films, has passed away on Friday (October 15) in Lucknow.
The 88-year-old was last seen in Amitabh Bachchan & Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, wherein she played the role of Big B’s wife.
Shaaz Ahmad, Farrukh Jaffar’s grandson, told the media that the actress breathed her last around 7 pm at Gomti Nagar residence after suffering a brain stroke. Earlier this month, she was reportedly admitted to Sahara Hospital after she complained of breathlessness.
Farrukh Ji’s elder daughter Mehru Jafar informed PTI, “She was admitted to the hospital on October 4 due to breathlessness. She was not well. Her lungs were unable to take the oxygen that had been given to her.”
Confirming the news, the late actress’s grandson took to Twitter and wrote, “My grandmother and wife of Freedom fighter, Ex MLC Mr S.M.Jaffar and Veteran Actress Mrs Farrukh Jaffar passed away today at 7 pm in lucknow.”
Ayushmann took to Instagram to pay his last condolences.
Farrukh Jaffar began her career as a radio announcer of Vividh Bharti Lucknow in 1963, later she was featured in movies like ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Swadesh’, ‘Peepli Live’, ‘Sultan’ and more.
