From Saina, Shershaah to Udham Singh and more…. 2021 has continued to entertain us thoroughly with thoughtful biopics.
Pyaar Ka Punchnama director Luv Ranjan will soon be producing a biopic on the former cricketer Sourav Ganguly.
Looks like a biopic on former Indian international cricketer Yuvraj Singh was also going to be in the making. Yuvraj’s comeback to the field after his tough battle with lung cancer is nothing less than filmy.
If this Bollywood Hungama report is to be believed, then Karan Johar was supposed to make a film on Yuvraj Singh and was almost going to buy the rights. The portal further reported that KJO had Gully Boy star Siddhant Chaturvedi to headline the project.
However, despite multiple meetings, things didn’t pan out as Yuvraj was reportedly insistent on having an A-lister come onboard.
A source told the site – “Yuvraj was clear that his story should have a top A LIST star. He suggested two names – Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor – however, Karan felt that the story needed a relatively new face, who could give requisite time for character prep. He also felt that Yuvraj himself was a national icon and his story would do well irrespective of star-cast.”
So it looks like KJO has backed out for now. Let’s wait and see if there’s any update on this front.
