‘Housefull’ actress Jiah Khan had died by suicide on June 3, 2013.
Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was said to be in a relationship with her, was allegedly booked for abetment of suicide of the late actress.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) had allegedly claimed that Jiah had talked about her & Sooraj’s “intimate relationship” and how his “physical abuse and mental and physical torture” led to the suicide in her 3-page-note, which was seized by the Mumbai Police as they were investigating the case in the beginning.
The ‘Hero’ actor was arrested on June 10, 2013, and is currently out on bail. The trial of the case began in March 2019.
Later in December, the CBI, along with Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan, had filed a petition seeking permission to send the ‘dupatta’ (used by Jiah) to Chandigarh Central Forensic Laboratory and the seized cellphones to the FBI in the USA to retrieve the deleted phone messages between Jiah & Sooraj.
Now, according to TOI, the special CBI court on Thursday (September 16) has apparently rejected the central agency’s plea for further investigation against Sooraj in the suicide case.
Objecting to the petitions, Sooraj’s lawyer Prashant Patil stated that the Bombay high court had rejected a similar plea by Jiah’s mother back in 2017. Special judge AS Sayyad dismissed the pleas after hearing the arguments of both parties.
The late actress Jiah Khan had appeared in Bollywood films like ‘Ghajini’, ‘Nishabd’.
