Storyline

Bhuj – the Pride of India is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war when Pakistan attacked Bhuj airbase under Operation Chengiz Khan. It was raided 35 times in 14 days! IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgn) had protected the border area in Gujarat by reconstructing the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local village women in Madhapar. Officer R K Nair (Sharad Kelkar), falls in love with what is described as a ‘viklaang Muslim’ girl. Then comes in an Indian spy Heena Rehman (Nora Fatehi), who’s wed to the Pakistani kingpin.

And onto another main character, we have Ranchordas Pagi (Sanjay Dutt), who is a cagey native in search of a breakthrough or information to oppose the Pakistanis with.

What we think?

Ajay Devgn, the star of the film, is always going to remain our favourite action hero and this movie proves why. Sanjay Dutt‘s Army Scout character as Ranchordas Pagi is powerful and a delight to watch. Sonakshi Sinha as social worker Sunderben Jetha Madharparya is not a never before seen look on the actress but we liked it. Ammy Virk as Flight Officer Vikram Singh Baj Jethaaz was another plus character who gives the film light. Lastly, Nora Fatehi, who plays Heena Rehman, is definitely a wow factor, an unexpected show of acting talent from the beauty.

Apart from the acting, we think there is a huge mishap in the direction and editing. While the storyline makes sense since it’s based on true events, the editing of the film is broken and the graphics are extremely animated.

Hit or Miss?

Bhuj – the Pride of India is star-studded, has certain lacking but is a good patriotic movie nonetheless. We’d give it a hit!
