Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently completed 25 years in Bollywood.
From ‘Devdas’ to ‘Padmavat’– his unique style of storytelling still continues to mesmerize the audience.
Earlier, there were reports doing rounds that SLB’s dream project ‘Heera Mandi’ would be revived as a Netflix project. Today, Netflix confirmed that they are collaborating with the director for its upcoming series– ‘Heera Mandi’.
Set in Lahore of pre-Independent India, the series will showcase the stories of courtesans, the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi (a district in Lahore).
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt, who will next be seen in SLB’s upcoming movie ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, is so ecstatic to work with the filmmaker that she wants to star in ‘Heera Mandi’ too.
If this report is believed to be true, the actress had apparently told Bhansali to give her any role and she would do it for FREE.
However, as per the report, Alia will apparently be a part of the series but Sanjay Leela Bhansali has refused her offer and would pay her market price.
“It’s not like Amitabh Bachchan who refused to charge a penny for Black because the producers couldn’t afford to pay him his price. Netflix is the producer of Heera Mandi. Every actor is being paid his or her full price,” a source revealed to the portal.
The report further suggests that there will apparently be 7 episodes and SLB will be directing the first one, while Vibhu Puri will be helming the rest of the 6 episodes.
