Here’s wishing the cute & talented actress Genelia D’Souza a very happy 34th birthday!

Today, let’s take a trip down memory lane to see how her ‘forever waali love story’ with husband Riteish Deshmukh started.

From being strangers to having a hush-hush affair to becoming Bollywood’s one of the most cutest couples– Genelia & Riteish’s bond will make you believe in true love. Have a look:

First Meeting:

Genelia D’Souza & Riteish Deshmukh first starred together in the 2002 movie- ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’. The duo first met in Hyderabad airport for the test shoot of the film. Genelia, who was only 16 years old back then, reportedly didn’t talk to Riteish and even used to ignore him on ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ sets as she thought since he was the son of former Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, he would be a ‘rich, very connected brat’.

Talking about the same Genelia once told the media:

“He was wondering why am I not talking. He was very sweet, so I wanted to talk to him, but I was like, one shouldn’t feel that I am talking to you because you are the chief minister’s son and all of that. But anyway, we started talking, and then we never stopped for the next 18 years.”

The Dreamy Proposal:

Before tying the knot, Genelia & Riteish had dated each other for almost nine years. Not many people know that the ‘Ek Villain’ actor proposed to Genelia just a couple of days before their marriage. During an interview, Riteish revealed that he took her on a speed boat and went on a yacht. It was evening time and the actor had planned for fireworks at Marine drive with the help of his friend. And that’s when he proposed to her.

“I took her down towards the jetty and we got on a speed boat. It was evening time. Then we went on a yacht which was of my friend. He was kind enough to let me have it for the evening. Then we went towards Marine Drive and it started getting dark. I had ordered our favourite Pizza. We sat on the front of the yacht it was a lovely and chilly evening. I reached a particular place that I wanted to be. And another friend of mine had a building right in front of Marine drive. Then I asked her to look there. The fireworks were planned at that point. And that’s when I proposed to her.”

The D-Day:

The couple finally got married on February 3, 2012. They had a Maharashtrian wedding along with a church wedding, as per the customs and traditions of their families. The couple has been blessed with two sons- Rahyl & Rihaan.
