A source had revealed to DNA – “The heroine’s role is also a prominent one – that of SRK’s wife, a Muslim woman. Huma Qureshi was approached first. They thought Huma would fit the bill and also they wanted a fresh pairing of sorts. But then, they got Mahira Khan on board because the character required the actress to have a certain kind of mannerism and lingo and being a Pakistani, Mahira totally nailed it.”
Huma Qureshi had once done an ad with Shah Rukh and called it the highlight of her life and eagerly wished to collaborate with him in the future.
She had told TOI – “I’m a big Shahrukh fan. I did this particular ad only because I was cast opposite him and that was the highlight of my life. I would love to work with him and do a film together”.
Let’s hope we see this duo united on screen for real! On the work front, Huma will next be seen in Akshay Kumar’s espionage thriller film ‘Bell Bottom’. It was earlier scheduled to have a theatrical release on 27 July 2021, but pandemic played spoilsport.
