Shah Rukh Khan had played an obsessive anti-hero in ‘Darr’ – a movie that was a prominent milestone in his career.
And he had aced the stalker role…His creepy yet iconic ‘K-k-k-k-kiran’ dialogue as Rahul Mehra still sends chills down the spine!
Though Sunny Deol was the ‘hero’ in the Juhi-Chawla starrer, he ended up being overshadowed by SRK’s villainous act. Sunny didn’t talk with Shah Rukh for 16 years reportedly after that.
Sunny had told the press – “My only issue with the film was that I did not know they would glorify the villain. I always work in films with an open heart and believe the person. I believe in working with trust. Unfortunately, we have many actors and stars who don’t function in this manner. Maybe that’s the way they want to get their stardom.“
Sunny had also recalled an incident on the ‘Darr’ sets when he ripped his pants out of anger, after having a disagreement with Yash Chopra.
He said – “I was doing a scene in the film where Shah Rukh stabs me. I had a heated discussion with Yash Chopra regarding that scene. I tried explaining that I am a commando officer in the film, my character is an expert, I am very fit, then how can this boy beat me easily. He can beat me if I can’t see him. If he can stab me while I am looking at him, then I won’t be called a commando.”
He continued further – “Since Yash ji was old, I respected him and couldn’t say anything. I put my hands inside my pocket as I was very angry. Soon, out of anger, I didn’t even realise that I had ripped my pants with my hands.“
