Shilpa Shetty’s businessman husband Raj Kundra was arrested in an alleged porn films scandal on July 19, 2021.
He had denied any wrongdoing and had filed for anticipatory bail. Kundra was produced before the Magistrate Court on Friday.
As per TOI report, Raj Kundra’s bail plea has been rejected! He’s to remain in police custody till 27th July.
Mumbai Police told the Court of their suspicion that the money earned from pornography was used for online betting. Hence, Raj’s ‘Yes Bank’ account and ‘United Bank Of Africa’ account need to be probed, they said.
For the unversed, Raj is booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) along with relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Raj Kundra To Move High Court
Meanwhile, Raj Kundra’s lawyer has said that they will move High Court. He called the arrest ‘illegal’ and insisted that the content couldn’t be classified as ‘pornography’ but as ‘vulgar content’ only since ‘no actual intercourse’ was involved.
He told TOI – “Raj Kundra’s arrest is illegal. There is not a single video which can be called pornographic. A 4000-page charge sheet has been filed but the police were not even able to point out any sexually explicit act in the video which demonstrated illegality under section 67a. Rest of the section applied are bailable.”
