The much-awaited sequel ‘Hungama 2’ is all set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on July 23.
Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra is finally making a comeback in movies after her 14-year sabbatical.
The trailer has already been dropped and it promises you to take on a laugh riot with limitless fun, entertainment, and double confusion.
However, ever since the trailer was released, there have been a lot of buzzes going around of ‘Hungama 2’ being the remake of director Priyadarshan’s 1994 Malayalam classic- ‘Minnaram’, starring Mohanlal.
Now, talking to a media portal, Priyadarshan has explained that the comedy sequel is based on the Malayalam film, however, it’s NOT a remake.
The filmmaker said, “It’s actually based on ‘Minnaram’, but not a remake of that film. Minnaram was a tragic film with the second half revolving around how the girl dies of cancer. That aspect is completely removed.”
“I have used only the first half of ‘Minnaram’ and rewrote the second half completely to make it an out and out comedy film. The original was a tragedy, this is a comedy,” he added.
For the unversed, ‘Hungama 2’ is the sequel of the 2003 cult movie ‘Hungama’. Besides Shilpa, the 2nd part also features Paresh Rawal, Meezaan Jaffrey, Pranitha Subhash, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
