Manish Malhotra is a popular name not just in the fashion industry but in Bollywood, too.
Now, adding a new feather to his cap, the ace designer is all set to make his directorial debut.
As HT reported, Manish will apparently be directing a dramatic musical love story, which is set in the backdrop of the Lahore partition. Apparently, he has also written the story and screenplay of his directorial debut.
The film is said to be bankrolled by Manish’s one of the closest friends- Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
While the details have been kept under wraps for now, the casting process for the film is expected to start soon.
Reacting to actress Janhvi Kapoor’s confirmation Instagram story, Manish himself has announced his directorial venture.
Meanwhile, an insider informed HT, “The story and screenplay of this intense musical love story, set in the backdrop of the partition, is also written by Malhotra. He has already envisioned the entire screenplay ready in his mind,” adding that the movie will “come with a splash of grandeur and elegance.”
Apparently, directing a film has always been one of Manish’s dreams because he was so glued to theatre, drama, and cinema. Back in 2007, he had said in an interview, “Directing a film or writing a book – I’m going to be doing either soon.”
Manish Malhotra has styled and designed costumes for famous Bollywood films like- ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘Student Of The Year’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Kalank’, ‘Dhadak’ & many more.
