“I Was Just Replaced Overnight”- When Kirti Kulhari Was Battling DEPRESSION!

Whether in movies or OTT space, Kirti Kulhari has successfully created a niche for herself.

The actress made her Bollywood debut with ‘Khichdi: The Movie’ in 2010.

Kirti is known for her roles in movies like- ‘Pink’, ‘Uri: The Surgical Attack’, ‘Mission Mangal’ & more, and web series- ‘Four More Shots’, ‘Criminal Justice’, and ‘Bard Of Blood’.

Well, her journey hasn’t always been a bed of roses. Recently, during a chat with Siddharth Kannan, the actress talked about one dark phase in her life around 2009, when she was losing everything. She was dropped from a South Indian film without being informed and was battling depression at the same time.

When Kirti Kulhari Was Battling Depression

Talking about it, she said, “There was one time that I specifically remember where I was just losing everything. It was around 2009. I had bagged a south Indian film and it so happened that in my personal life, I was going through the worst time I have ever had in my life. I was going through depression. I remember when that was happening and I got this film, I went for a photo shoot for the film. After I came back from it, these guys never called me to come and shoot with them.”

“I was replaced. I didn’t realize it then. I don’t know if I was looking like s**t but I was just so not in my elements that I guess people could just see it. I was just replaced overnight. That, in addition to what I was going through personally, just shook me up in a way… It first made me feel like it’s the end. Like, there is no coming out of this and I am going to stay here, and this is what my life is going to be. It was that scary,” the 38-year-old added.

Once her mental state was improved, Kirti started ‘seeing light’ and it put her on a “path of self-healing, self-discovery, and spirituality.”

The actress was last seen in the Netflix movie ‘The Girl On The Train’, starring Parineeti Chopra.
