It’s that time of the year when the governing body behind the Oscars reveals the list of their new members.
On Thursday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the names of the ‘Class of 2021’.
A total of 395 new members of artists and executives have been invited to vote for Oscars. The list includes 3 well-known Bollywood personalities– actress Vidya Balan, and producers Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor.
As India Today reported, Vidya Balan was recognized for her performance in ‘Kahaani’ (2012) & ‘Tumhari Sulu’ (2017). Ekta Kapoor has been perceived for ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ (2010) and ‘Dream Girl’ (2019), while her mother Shobha has been recognized for ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011)and ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016).
Reportedly, the 2021 class consists of 46% women, 39% underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 53% international from 50 countries.
Other prominent actors who’ve been invited to join The Academy include Robert Pattinson, Laverne Cox, Vanessa Kirby, Steven Yeun, and others.
Last year, Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan were among the 819 new members of The Academy’s Class.
