Neena Gupta has been hitting the headlines lately with her newly-launched autobiography ‘Sach Kahun Toh’.
In the book, the ‘Badhaai Ho’ actress spilled the beans about both her personal & professional life.
While talking about some unpleasant incidents that she experienced in the film industry, Neena Gupta also talked about the dark side of Bollywood- the casting couch!
According to a Zoom report, in an excerpt, Neena recalled the time when her ‘blood froze’ after a renowned producer from the South asked her to spend the night with him.
In her autobiography, the 62-year-old revealed that she got a call from a producer, from the South, to meet him. She decided to pay him a visit after her performance at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai. When she called the producer from the phone lobby, he asked Neena to go up to his room. “My basic instinct told me to not go upstairs. That I should ask him to come down to the lobby instead,” she wrote.
However, afraid to lose out on the opportunity, she went up anyway. Apparently, the producer went on talking for hours about how he launched several heroines in the South.
“‘So, what’s my role, sir?’ I asked him finally when he paused to catch his breath. ‘The heroine’s friend,’ he said. When he explained it to me, it seemed like a very small part. ‘Ok … I have to go now, sir’ I said, ‘My friends are waiting for me.’….’Go? Where? he asked. He seemed genuinely shocked. Aren’t you going to spend the night here?’ Suddenly, I felt like someone had just poured a bucket of ice water on my head. Khoon sookh gaya (My blood froze),” the actress shared.
She further revealed that the producer thrust her bag in her arms, saying that if she wanted to leave, she could and that no one was forcing her, after which Neena ran out.
