Renowned Bollywood writer Kanika Dhillon recently hit the headlines over a Twitter spat with fellow screenwriter Navjot Gulati.
On Monday, Kanika, the writer of Taapsee Pannu‘s ‘Haseen Dillruba’, slammed Gulati for his ‘sexist’ remarks.
After the trailer release of Taapse-Vikrant-Harshvardhan starrer ‘Haseen Dillruba’, wherein Kanika was given prominent credits for the Netflix movie, ‘Jai Mummy Di’ writer Navjot Gulati took a jibe at Kanika and said that the key to scoring a ‘top billing as screenwriter’ is to ‘marry into the production house’.
For the uninitiated, Kanika is married to Himanshu Sharma, a National Award-winning film writer, a long-time creative partner of filmmaker Aanand L Rai & co-producer of ‘Haseen Dillruba’.

Reacting to this, Kanika lashed out at Navjot and called him ‘sexist’ & ‘misogynist’ and also said that his ‘pea-sized brain will not be able to process a successful woman making it on her own’.

Soon after, actress Taapsee Pannu, including others, came out in support of Kanika.
However, Navjot Gulati issued a clarification and wrote, “My tweet was to criticise the Credit system by Netflix and i made an observation which was meant as a quip. I did not tag anyone. Nor did i want this to divert the attention from the main issue of Netflix not crediting cast and crew in the trailer. Especially Writers.”
Kanika Dhillon has been credited for writing for films like late SSR’s ‘Kedarnath’, Kiara Advani’s ‘Guilty’, ‘Manmarziyaan’, ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’, and many more. She is also the screenwriter of Taapsee’s upcoming movie ‘Rashmi Rocket’.
