Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar has something exciting planned up her sleeve!
Her next project is reportedly going to revolve around her screenwriter and lyricist father Javed Akhtar and veteran writer Salim Khan.
The Salim-Javed writing duo has been known for giving Bollywood iconic gems like Zanjeer, Sholay, Deewar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Don and more!
A source informed Pinkvilla that Zoya is working on docu-drama project on Javed-Salim.
“Zoya feels that the Salim-Javed combo gave a new lease to writers in Hindi film industry and their achievements deserve to make it to the spectacle. While at first, she was planning to spin a biopic for theatres on their life, through the lockdown she felt that the story demands to be showcased on a digital medium.”
It is is yet to be seen whether Javed-Salim themselves will be appearing in the documentary to narrate their stories or other actors will be assuming their roles.
The source further added – “In fact, if the docu-drama gets an overwhelming response with the audience asking for more, don’t be surprised if the story is dramatized for a theatrical medium with actors stepping into the shoes of this iconic writer duo. It’s all being kept under wraps at the moment.”
In other news, it was also reported that Zoya will be working with Ranveer Singh and Katrina Kaif for a gangster drama, allegedly inspired by Martin Scorsese’s thriller The Departed.
