Arijit Singh is one of the most soulful singers of Bollywood and his songs will have you bawling like a baby even if you aren’t in a relationship.
Did you know this legend wasn’t in the good books of Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan? The Superstar reportedly rejected the singer multiple times for his songs!
The tiff reportedly started in 2014 when Salman Khan got offended by Arijit Singh’s remark during an award show. When Arijit was asked to come on stage, he had commented – “Aap logon ne toh sula diya (you put us to sleep)”.
To which Salman had responded with a jibe, “Aur isme humara koi dosh nahi hai, agar aise gaane bajte rahenge…(Not our fault, if songs like these keep playing)”, mocking Arjit by humming ‘Tum Hi Ho’ tune.
Though Arijit apologized, looks like Salman never really forgave him allegedly. The Tum Hi Ho singer was rejected for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and had his already recorded songs removed from Kick and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
As per Free Press Journal, Arijit had revealed – “When I recorded a song for the Meet Brothers in “Kick”, they called me saying Bhai doesn’t want to keep the song. Then came “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. I was helping Pritam-da with the music. When a particular song was being considered for me, Bhai (Salman) vetoed it. Pritam-da told me he won’t record any song with me because he might have had to remove my voice.”
Arijit thought Salman had finally forgiven him and even recorded a song for Sultan. But alas, no!
Arijit said, “I felt Salman sir has finally forgiven me. I went to Mumbai and recorded the song. Vishal called to say Salman sir also liked the song. I thought everything was okay.
I planned to dedicate the song to Salman sir after the release, go to his house and thank him. Then I got an sms from Vishal Dadlani. He informed me my song couldn’t be kept in “Sultan”. Vishal said Salman sir had forgiven me, but I couldn’t sing for him.”
Ouch! Let’s hope the two will someday let bygones be bygones and we get to hear Arijit Singh crooning in Salman’s movie!
