Last year, Dharma Productions signed a massive deal with South’s one of the biggest productions Lyca Productions.
Both had collaborated earlier in Rajnikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer Robot 2.0.
With this 5-film blockbuster deal, the production house was all set to enter Bollywood. But, seems like it’s not the case anymore.
According to the latest Bollywood Hungama report, the deal has reportedly been called off for an unknown reason.
“Lyca Productions has backed out of the deal with Dharma Productions. No one exactly knows the reason behind it as only the top honchos were involved in all the discussions. But the deal is not happening,” a source revealed to the portal.
Earlier, KJo’s Dharma Productions was in a steady collaborative agreement with Fox Star Studios. Before Walt Disney took over Fox, both the production houses had collaborated on multiple projects.
It was reported that after this deal with Fox was stopped, Karan started looking for a studio partner, and that’s when talks with his 2.0 collaborators began. Directed by Shankar, the sci-fi hit Robot 2.0 was produced by Lyca and presented in the Hindi market by Dharma Productions.
If reports are to be believed, the last project Karan Johar and Fox-Disney have been collaborating on is the much-awaited Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra. He is reported looking out to collab with a studio for his upcoming movies.
