After Meghan Markle-Prince Harry’s explosive interview, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was the next high-profile guest on Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul.
Chopra’s interview with the iconic talk show host has been garnering buzz – especially one particularly harsh revelation about the film industry.
From talking about her marriage with Nick Jonas, her memoir ‘Unfinished’ to recalling how a director had once mistreated her… PeeCee’s interview had quite some juicy moments.
Priyanka opened up on how a director had asked her to give a dance performance that made her uncomfortable. She further told Oprah that she regretted not calling him out.
“My regret with that incident is that I never said anything to that filmmaker. I was so scared. I was new in the entertainment business and girls are always told that ‘you don’t want to get a reputation of being hard to work with.’ So, I worked within the system. And that’s my regret is that I never stood up to him and said, ‘What you did was wrong’ because I was scared but the only way, I knew how to deal with it was just to step away from it and have grace under fire. And that’s what I did,”she said.
Priyanka had described the misconduct in her memoir, “I am standing right next to him, like behind him. He is sitting on his chair in a really entitled way, and then he takes the phone and goes, ‘Listen, people are going to come into the movies to watch her when she shows her panties. So it needs to be really short, so I can see her panties. You know those people sitting in the front? They should be able to see her panties.’ He said it four times and it is not even pretty in Hindi. It is worse. And I am 18-19 years old and I had shot two days for that movie, I remember.”
Talking about her upbringing, Priyanka said, “I was told to have an opinion in a room that disagreed with me. I was always encouraged to have a voice.”
Priyanka may not have confronted the director but she did walk out of the film ultimately.
On the work front, Priyanka was last seen in ‘The White Tiger’. She recently finished her schedule for ‘Matrix 4’ and ‘Text For You’ and is currently shooting for her upcoming project ‘Citadel’.
