Last month ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame Madhur Mittal landed into legal trouble.
The actor was booked by Mumbai Police for allegedly injuring and sexually assaulting his former girlfriend.
According to reports, on Feb 23, an FIR had been filed against Madhur Mittal at Mumbai’s Khar Police Station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (use of criminal force to disrobe a woman), 354(D) (stalking) and 509 (words or gestures intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code based on a complainant filed by his former girlfriend.
The report also claimed that the duo reportedly met in December last year, and within two weeks, the actor got drunk and apparently forced himself on her.
Post that, Mittal had reportedly approached the court for anticipatory bail through his lawyer, advocate Saveena Bedi.
In his plea, the actor claimed that even after their break up, the complainant wanted to stay in the same house to share the rent, which he did not agree to, and that made her angry.
Now, as per an HT report, Madhur Mittal has been granted interim protection from arrest by the special court for crime against women in Mumbai on Friday (March 13).
Denying all the accusations, Madhur Mittal told Bombay Times that the reports were “assassinating my character” and were affecting his career.
“Getting to learn about things which are untrue is extremely disturbing. There have been WhatsApp messages filled with stories that are assassinating my character. These are being forwarded for weeks in casting directors’ groups denying me work. I’m the only earning member of my family since the age of seven and all these reports in the media are affecting me, my family, and my career in more ways than you can imagine,” the 30-year-old stated.
