Actor Sanjay Dutt & Maanayata Dutt got hitched on Feb 11, 2008, and have been blessed with twins- Shahraan & Iqra.
Today, the power couple are celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary.
From being involved with many ladies to getting married thrice- Sanjay Dutt’s personal life has always been in the news.
His love story with Maanayata is nothing less than a Bollywood movie. So, today, let’s share the power couple’s filmy love story:
Sanjay Dutt & Maanayata Dutt Love Story:
It is said that Sanjay Dutt was dating a junior artist named Nadia Durrani when he met Maanayata for the first time. Sanju Baba found Maanayata interesting, whose original name is Dilnawaz Shaikh.
Nadia was reportedly more into money and luxury, while Maanayata into cooking and taking care of Sanju. No guessing point on who won Sanju Baba’s heart. Seems like the old-age saying, “A way to man’s heart is through his stomach,” really did its magic.
Maanayata’s warm & protective nature, taking care of Sanjay’s personal and professional matters, getting along with his friends– all these things impressed Sanjay and attracted him towards her. She used to often visit him on his sets with his favorite food items.
Maanayata once said in an interview:
“Wherever there’s power, there’s bound to be a lot of conspiracy hovering around that source of power. And let’s face it, Sanju is very powerful. There were too many people around him trying to use him. I came like a barricade in Sanju’s life to stand between him and those who want to use him. Naturally, these fair-weather friends resent me. I spoilt their party, you see.”
The D-Day:
After dating for two years, following the Hindu rituals, Sanjay & Maanayata got hitched at the Taj Exotica in Goa on February 7, 2008. After their marriage news came out, while people congratulated them, many started gossiping. But their smiling faces and love for each other didn’t really care for anything.
When Maanayata was asked about her pre & post-marriage life, she said:
“Oh yes. I’ve never been happier. Sanju has stood by me through thick and thin. I’ve known him for nine years. We started seeing each other seriously in 2005. But he knew my past. So, when ‘friends’ tried to provoke him he just laughed it off. He knew everything about me. When I was going through hell before my marriage, I’d pick up the phone and ask him for help. We’re both very positive people and we like to live and let live. We both believe in forgiving. And we believe every saint can have a past. And every sinner can have a future.”
When Sanjay and Manyata tied the knot, Sanjay’s sisters apparently didn’t accept Manyata as their Bhabhi. Not only that, they didn’t even attend their wedding. But now, later on, with time, things got fine and they are on good terms now.
Twins’ Arrival:
On October 21, 2010, two years after their marriage, the couple became proud parents of gorgeous twins- Shahraan and Iqra Dutt.
After he was released from jail, Sanju was seen enjoying all the good lost moments with them. When Sanjay was shooting for ‘Bhoomi’, they used to visit him on sets.
Case Problems:
Finally, when Sanjay & Maanayata were in a happy place, enjoying the marital bliss with children & family, the court’s judgement came as a bad dream. Sanjay was sentenced to three years in jail.
When everyone was devastated, Maanayata was there- standing like a tall, strong wall, protecting everyone.
When Sanjay wrote a poem for Maanayata from jail:
Did you know once Sanju wrote a poem from jail for Maanayata on her birthday? Two months after Sanju’s Commencement of jail, it was Maanayata’s birthday, which she didn’t want to celebrate, Sanjay plucked a rose from the garden in the jail and wrote a poem on the rose, and kept it between the pages. Feeling emotional right? Maanayata also did.
After serving his jail time, Sanju baba is back with his family, enjoying every moment with them.
Earlier, in an interview, while talking about his ‘better half’, Sanju said,
“Manayata is not my ‘better’ half but my ‘best’ half. She is my strength. Whenever I fall down, she supports me. I believe she had suffered more than myself. Raising kids alone and realizing each day what she had, I pray that nobody gets to suffer it anywhere.”
