The entire film industry is currently under the scanner of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Not just Bollywood, even other industries like Sandalwood came under the radar.
Now, as per the latest PeepingMoon reports, actor Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law Aditya Alva has been arrested by the Bengaluru Police yesterday in the alleged Sandalwood drugs case.
Aditya, who has been accused of hosting parties at his residence where drugs were allegedly consumed, had reportedly been staying at a house in Chennai since the FIR was registered against him in September 2020.
Confirming his arrest to the media, Bengaluru Joint Police commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil said, “We were involved in a continuous operation to arrest him. We received a tip-off that he was in Chennai after which a team arrested him.”
CCB sleuths have brought Aditya to Bengaluru and he is currently being questioned at the CCB’s office in Chamarajpet, Bengaluru. Police sources said that he would be produced before the special court in NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases later in the day.
Reportedly, his passport details have been checked by the police, and no records of him traveling abroad have been found after his name got involved in the drug case.
As per The Quint, sources claimed that CCB Inspector Puneet received information of his whereabouts after which an operation to arrest him was planned and carried out.
According to CCB sources, Aditya was arrested from a resort located between Chennai and Mahabalipuram. Reports revealed that the investigators were tracking the mobile phone locations of persons close to Aditya and that they had compiled a list of people whom he was in contact with regularly.
Alva, who is the son of late Janata Party leader Jeevaraj Alva, had moved to court to quash the FIR rubbishing all the allegations filed against him. He is accused number six in the Sandalwood drug case and had been absconding for four months.
Earlier in September, police had carried a search at Aditya Alva’s resort, where he used to allegedly host weekend parties attended by many celebs from the Kannada film industry.
