The sequel of Amitabh Bachchan’s heist thriller ‘Aankhen’ is yet to see the light of the day.
The 2002 movie featured Big B in a negative role, while Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal played blind characters.
Aankhen 2 has seen several setbacks and cast changes from Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan to Jacqueline Fernandez but reportedly nothing seemed to work out.
While the legendary veteran Big B has already given his nod to the sequel, the makers are on the hunt for a popular young actor opposite him.
And we hear that this hotshot contender is – Siddharth Malhotra! While Malhotra will be going blind for the role it remains to be seen whether Amitabh ji plays the good guy or the bad guy in the 2nd instalment.
“The team has now approached Sidharth Malhotra to come on board for the project. Big B has already given his nod to the film. Taking it ahead from the previous film, the second part will be a completely original script but will have the same essence and thrill elements of the original. Sidharth will essay the role of a blind man here whereas it needs to be seen if Big B plays the main villain or a protagonist this time,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
Director Aneez Bazmee will be helming the movie. The sequel team still has to sort out the issues over the movie’s rights with Gaurang Doshi.
The source added – “The producers are planning to pay Gaurang a certain sum and get done with his involvement and go ahead without him.”
Meanwhile, Sidharth recently announced 2 movies – an espionage thriller ‘Mission Majnu’ co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, and ‘Thank God’ with Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn.
