Fans still lament the loss of one of Bollywood’s brightest stars – Sushant Singh Rajput.
A sharp and curious mind, Sushant was known to be an avid stargazer with a deep fascination for astronomy and the cosmos.
Along with being the proud owner of the highly advanced Meade 14’’ LX-600 telescope, Rajput had even bought a piece of land on the moon in the region called the ‘Mare Moscoviense’ or the ‘Sea of Moscovy.’
Chanda Mama Door Ke
It comes as no surprise then that the actor would strive to combine two of his loves – acting and astronomy. SSR was to star in the space movie ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ as an astronaut.
The actor had even taken training at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and interacted with real-life astronauts to gain valuable insights into life aboard a spaceship.
Sadly, this project kept being put on the backburner and with Sushant’s demise in 2020, the promise of seeing him play an astronaut won’t materialize.
However, Sushant’s director-friend Sanjay Puran Singh will be reviving this passion project as a befitting tribute for the late actor.
“The film is not shelved. I hope I will be able to translate on-screen what I have visualised in my head and put on paper. That said, I am not reviving it right away as it has not been even a year to Sushant’s passing; his loss has been emotionally exhausting,” the director told Midday.
“Whenever I make the film, it will be a tribute to Sushant. He was so attached to the script that I owe this to him. He had given a lot of inputs to the [material],” Sanjay added.
“I can’t think of a replacement for Sushant. Many suggested that I turn it into a web series, but I want to retain it as a film. It is meant for the big screen.”
The story of Chanda Mama Door Ke will reportedly be tweaked to add thrill and mystery before it takes off.
We hope this space odyssey gets made in the memory of our beloved Sushant.
