Sidharth Malhotra’s Thadam remake put on the backburner?

Sidharth Malhotra recently announced a spy thriller, Mission Manju where he will be playing a RAW agent opposite Rashmika Mandanna.

However, it seems like this announcement was made only after he exited from his other film, Thadam remake.

Peepingmoon.com has learned that Sidharth has backed out of Murad Khetani and Bhushan Kumar‘s Thadam remake that was announced last year with Mrunal Thakur as the leading lady

It is believed that Sidharth Malhotra walked out of the film because he had issues with the script. A source says “Thadam is an intriguingly written whodunit thriller with ample psychological twists. Magizh Thirumeni’s writing and direction was the highlight of this film. Since the original’s Hindi dubbed version is already available on YouTube, Sidharth wanted some major changes in the remake to maintain the suspense. He also worked himself on the script but eventually, he didn’t like what came out as the final draft and decided to opt-out. The film is believed to have been put on the backburner now.”

Thadam remake was supposed to see Sidharth playing a double role— a businessman and a small-town thief. Revolving around a murder that results in a cat-and-mouse game between the two identical characters and the cops, the film was earlier planned to go on floors in May with a release date fixed for November 2020. However, the Covid-19 outbreak disrupted the plan.

Sid was excited about this film and was hoping to start it soon after the lockdown is eased. He was in regular touch with Vardhan and Murad Khetani and were constantly discussing the project via Zoom, so it’s sad when it’s not happening as one had expected. Though Khetani is still trying to make the film with someone else now,” the source further added.

One another movie of Sidharth is also not showing any development. It is that’s Indra Kumar’s comedy co-starring Ajay Devgn.

Sidharth Malhotra will start shooting for Mission Manju from February.
