On Monday, a case was registered by BMC against actors Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and his son Nirvaan.
The civic body had found the trio to be in violation of the Covid-19 quarantine norms!
As reported by TOI, the three Khans had returned from Dubai on December 25 2020, and as per BMC guidelines, should have undergone a 7-day institutional quarantine. They told the officials they would be quarantining at Hotel Taj Lands End, however, the trio cancelled the hotel booking and went home directly.
The Police learnt that Arbaaz, Sohail and Nirvaan had flouted the hotel’s quarantine rules and misled the officials. Hence, a complaint was filed against the trio under IPC Sections 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) and 269 (a negligent act which is likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life)
A BMC team had visited Sohail Khan’s house, and he had told the officials that the trio had booked the hotel for quarantine but went home after their report at the airport came “negative”.
Now, all three have been sent for the institutional quarantine at Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra West. They will have to complete the quarantine period and later have their RT PCR test done.
A BMC officer told India Today, “These are huge violations. The guidelines were very clear. People travelling from the UK and the Middle East have to undergo compulsory institutional quarantine, even if they have a negative Covid-19 report. After 7 days of institutional quarantine, they will have to undergo RT PCR test. The actors (Arbaaz and Sohail) gave a false undertaking. Both brothers arrived from the UAE on December 25 while Sohail’s son Nirvaan arrived on the 30th. They have now been sent to institutional quarantine at Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra West, Mumbai.”
