Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been actively supporting the farmers in their ongoing protests.
The celebrity had even quietly donated 1 crore to purchase warm clothes for the protestors.
Recently, rumours had gone rife that the Income Tax Department had allegedly launched a probe into Punjabi label company Speed Records and singer Diljit Dosanjh for allegedly routing funds from the UK to sustain the ongoing farmer agitation.
However, Diljit took to Twitter to dismiss the allegation of an Income Tax probe while sharing a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from the Ministry of Finance. The certificate showed the Government of India certifying that Diljit had paid his taxes and filed his Income Tax Returns for the year 2019-2020.
The certificate read, “We appreciate the taxpayer, in the Platinum category, in recognition of the contribution towards building this great Nation.”
He captioned his tweet – “Ah Lao Fadh Lao Mera PLATINUM CERTIFICATE ‘In Recognition of the Contribution Towards Building THIS GREAT NATION’ Twitter Te Beh Ke Apne Aap Nu Desh Bhakt Dasan NAAL Tusi Desh Bhakt Ni Ban Jande.. Odey Lai Kam Karna Penda (One doesn’t need to sit on Twitter and prove they are a patriot, one needs to work towards it).”
Dosanjh has been standing strong in his support for the farmers since the beginning and even had a heated battle about the same with Kangana Ranaut on Twitter.
“I want to urge the government to accept the demand of farmers. I would also like to urge the media to support us, these farmers are sitting peacefully with their demands, please show that and support us,” Diljit had also said.
