Late actress Sridevi & producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor is working hard to create her own mark in Bollywood.
Now, Janhvi will be seen playing the lead in the Hindi remake of a popular Tamil film.
According to mid-day, Janhvi, who was last seen in ‘Gunjan Saxena’, has been roped in to play the lead in the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil black comedy crime film ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’. The original film starred Nayanthara in the lead.
The ‘Dhadak’ actress will reportedly fly to Punjab to start shooting for this Siddharth Sengupta directorial. This yet-to-be-titled movie, which will be based in North India, will start filming on Jan 9.
“Janhvi will fly to Punjab for the film which will be shot over 45 days in a [bio] bubble. They roll on January 9 and plan to shoot across various regions. Even though in each location, a different set of restrictions are imposed, strict safety protocol will be maintained,“ a source revealed to mid-day.
While the Hindi adaptation will not be a frame-by-frame adaptation of the original, Janhvi will apparently portray the character of a North Indian girl with minimal make-up.
“Playing the part of a girl from a simple, middle-class family, she will be seen in braids and salwar-kurtas. It is also a coming-of-age movie of a girl who gets trapped in an extraordinary situation, and how she saves her family. In the process, she emerges resilient. There are a few action sequences for which Janhvi has been prepping,” the source further added.
The 2018 Nayanthara starrer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is the story of a girl who gets involved in a drug racket to earn quick money. The film was well-received by both the critics and the audiences.
On the work front, Janhvi will next be seen in ‘Roohi Afza’ with Rajkummar Rao. She will also star in the sequel of ‘Dostana’, co-starring Kartik Aaryan and Lakshya.
