Since its announcement, Om Raut’s mythological drama ‘Adipurush’ has been creating headlines.
Now the Demon king ‘Lankesh’, Saif Ali Khan, faced a backlash on the internet for his controversial comment on ‘Adipurush’.
During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Saif opened up on humanizing Ravan’s character and said, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose.”
Well, this statement didn’t go down well for many. Netizens, including political figures, have slammed and trolled the ‘Sacred Games’ actor.
BJP leader Ram Kadam from Mumbai took to Twitter and criticized Saif, along with the makers of ‘Adipurush’. Check out some of his tweets:
As per Peepingmoon, Saif is aware that his statement has hurt the sentiment of people and has apologized for unintentionally hurting them. Withdrawing his statement, Saif siad, “I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way.”
“I would like to sincerely apologize to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions,” he further stated.
