Well folks, we have some sad news for you.
Remember Imran Khan? He absolutely melted our hearts as ‘Jai Singh Rathore’ in ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’!
Imran had carved his niche in Bollywood as the good-natured, chocolate boy with rom-com films like ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ and ‘I Hate Luv Storys’. He was last seen opposite Kangana Ranaut in ‘Katti Batti’, five years back.
And now, it looks like we won’t be seeing the ‘Delhi Belly’ actor on the big screen any time soon!
In an interview with Navbharat Times, Imran Khan’s close friend, actor Akshay Oberoi (of ‘Kaalakaandi’ and web series ‘Flesh’ fame) confirmed the news of Imran quitting showbiz.
“My best friend in Bollywood is Imran Khan, who is no longer an actor because he has quit acting. Imran is my closest friend, whom I can get up at 4 am and call. Me and Imran have been with each other for almost 18 years, we studied acting together at Kishore Acting School in Andheri West.”
He continued, “I will not call it a lapse from his side as every actor sees flops in his career. You see my career, how many films of mine have flopped. I will not call it a lapse. You keep trying. Sometimes films work, sometimes they don’t, irrespective of your star status. He left acting, he left the fight. And, when you have left it, you are not in the game. So, you cannot call it a mistake.”
He elaborated further that though Imran has left acting, he may still be interested in ‘directing’.
“See, Imran Khan has left acting at the moment. As far as I know, there is a better writer and director inside Imran, I do not know when he will direct his film himself, I am not going to put any pressure, but as a friend, I think so he will direct his film soon. Also, when Imran directs, I know he will make a wonderful film because his sensibility and understanding of cinema is very high.”
Imran has been in the news recently for his reported separation from his wife, Avantika Malik. However, Avantika’s mother had rubbished the reports. Imraan and Avantika had gotten married in 2011 and have a daughter called Imara.
