Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Movies List – 2021; New Comedy Signed!

Akshay Kumar has already wrapped up shooting for his espionage thriller ‘Bell Bottom’, co-starring Vaani Kapoor. 

Post finishing the YRF period drama ‘Prithviraj’, he will be tackling ‘Atrangi Re’. After Laxmii, the Superstar Khiladi has signed on another wacky comedy!

Mudassar Aziz’s Comedy Flick

A Mumbai Mirror report revealed the news of Akshay’s collaboration with Mudassar Aziz, who has previously directed projects like Happy Bhag Jayegi and Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake.

Akshay Wants A Balance Between Various Genres

“Akshay has come on board for Mudassar Aziz’s next, a whacky comedy. He said “yes” as soon as he heard the subject. He is trying to consciously strike a balance between real-life subjects, action thrillers, love stories with a difference, and laughter riots,” informed a source to Mumbai Mirror. 

The film will take off in July.

2 More Films + A Show?

Looks like Action Kumar’s 2021 work pipeline is bursting with projects! The Mumbai Mirror report further revealed that the Laxmii actor is in talks for 2 more films; an investigative thriller and a social comedy, but is yet to take a final call on them.

“He has almost 10 films in his kitty and there’s talk of a show towards the end of 2021 too,” added the source.

Bachchan Pandey

Akshay Kumar will be kickstarting 2021 by shooting Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Bachchan Pandey‘ from January.

He will be reuniting with Housefull 4 co-star Kriti Sanon. While Akshay will be essaying the role of a gangster cum wannabe actor, Kriti will be seen as a journalist, who’s aspiring to become a director.

Rakshabandhan

After ‘Atrangi Re’, starring Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan, ‘Rakshabandhan’ will be Akshay Kumar’s second collaboration with Aanand L Rai.

Scheduled to release on 5th November 2021, the film will revolve around a brother-sister bond. Akshay also said the film was a tribute to his sister Alka Bhatia.

Ekta Kapoor’s Action Comedy

After ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’, Khiladi Kumar will be reuniting with Ekta Kapoor again for an action-comedy.

Apart from having a lavish budget, the details of this film have not yet been disclosed.

Meanwhile, Akshay’s cop drama Sooryavanshi has been scheduled for a theatrical release in January-March window next year.
