With more than two decades old friendship, SRK & KJo are the epitome of friendship in Bollywood.
The dashing duo became friends on the sets of DDLJ and ever since there’s no looking back!
Karan even marked his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which had his brother like friend, SRK in the lead. Following that Karan’s every directorial project had SRK in the lead or in a cameo except Student Of The Year.
So can you believe that at a point in life Karan Johar thought that Shah Rukh Khan overacts?
In his autobiographical book, An Unsuitable Boy KJo has stated that in the very early 90s, Aamir Khan was his favourite and he didn’t like SRK. Karan even went on to share that he used to have healthy arguements about this with his best friend and now Dharma Production’s CEO Apoorva Mehta. Apporva was a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan at that time.
“Shah Rukh came in 1991, and I wasn’t a fan of his at all. Ironically, I liked him the least. But Apoorva (Mehta, Karan’s friend and now Dharma Productions’ CEO) did. I was Team Aamir and he was Team Shah Rukh. There were girls who were obsessed with Shah Rukh and there were people like me who were mad about Aamir.” said Karan Johar in his book.
He further said, “I was not a Shah Rukh Khan fan because I thought he overacted. I didn’t like him in Deewana. And Apoorva used to say: ‘Aamir is so boring, what do you like about him?’ We had these fights about Aamir and Shah Rukh as if they were our relatives and we had to take up cudgels on their behalf. They were very passionate fights.”
Isn’t that surprising?
Shah Rukh Khan & Karan Johar together have given some of Bollywood’s biggest hits. From Karan’s directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota in 1998 to the most epic family drama of Bollywood, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, this bestfriend duo is the perfect example of personal & professional success.
