Everyone is eagerly anticipating Akshay Kumar’s next release, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, wherein he will be seen playing a transgender character.
However, the movie’s title has been a cause of immense controversy, and the makers even received a legal notice from Shri Rajput Karni Sena, demanding title change.
As per Zoom TV report, the legal notice sent by advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, on behalf of Shri Rajput Karni Sena accused the makers of “deliberately” using the title ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ with the intention of lowering the “dignity” and “showing disrespect” to the goddess Laxmmi.
The notice also claimed that relating the name ‘Laxmmi’ with ‘Bomb’ hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. It was alleged that the title of the film sent out a wrong message to the society towards the “ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion”.
The notice also demanded an unconditional apology from the makers for hurting their religious sentiments.
After this development, as per Zee News, on Thursday, the film’s director Raghava Lawrence went for the film’s censor certificate and post the screening, the makers had a discussion with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Keeping in mind and respecting the sentiments of its viewers, the producers of ‘Laxmmi Bomb’- Shabinaa Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Akshay Kumar – decided to change the title of their film to ‘Laxmii’.
The film is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster “Muni 2: Kanchana”. Apart from Akshay and Kiara Advani, the film also stars Tusshar Kapoor, Sharad Kelkar, and Ashwini Kalsekar.
It premieres on 9th Nov on Disney+ Hotstar VIP.
