One of Bollywood’s legendary movies and also one of the industry’s longest-running films in theatres, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, celebrates 25 glorious years tomorrow, on the 20th of October.
An announcement from the Heart of London Business Alliance states that statues of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will be unveiled in London’s Leicester Square.
As per a report, the bronze statue will depict a scene from the movie which was filmed in London. The statue will be unveiled at the ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie trail. The trail also includes statues of other creations such as Harry Potter, Laurel and Hardy, Gene Kelly from Singin’ in the ‘Rain’ (1952), Batman and ‘Wonder Woman’. Andrzej Szymczyk is the sculptor behind the life-size statues.
Interestingly, DDLJ will be the first Bollywood movie statue in the ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie trail.
Directed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ also stars the late Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Himani Shivpuri, Satish Shah, Mandira Bedi, Parmeet Sethi, late Achala Sachdev, Karan Johar, Anaita Shroff Adajania and Arjun Sablok.
