Amitabh Bachchan, or as Bollywood knows him – Big B, has always been one of the most loved and respected megastars of the industry.
However, an interesting secret of the actor had been revealed on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 12 about his name.
Bachchan reveals that his mother Teji Bachchan had almost named him ‘Inquilab’ at the time of his birth. The story behind this, as narrated by Amitabh himself, is that Teji Bachchan had participated in a freedom struggle rally during the British colonialization.
His mother was apparently eight months pregnant with Amitabh but however, when the men of her family found out that she was not at home and had gone to participate in the rally, they reprimanded her and got her back home.
This lead to her thinking that ‘Inquilab’ would’ve been the ideal name for her then-unborn son as the meaning of the name is ‘revolution’.
When he was born, his parents were convinced to name him Inquilab, however, legendary poet Sumitranandan Pant then named him Amitabh.
Interestingly, in 1984, Big B had played the lead in a film named Inquilaab.
