Post a 6-month lockdown break, Alia Bhatt has now resumed shooting for her film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The cast and crew are up and about shooting at a Mumbai studio.
The team has constructed a huge set that best replicates Kamathipura. According to a TOI report, the team picked up where they left off to maintain continuity of the shoot.
The team’s shoot has an extensive night schedule where Alia kick starts her shooting hours from late evenings until early morning. ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will see Alia play the role of one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams of Kamathipura brothel during the 1960s. Sold into prostitution very young, Gangubai became influential in the city, with notorious criminals serving as her clients.
The film is based on a chapter in Husain Zaidi’s novel ‘Mafia Queens Of Mumbai’.
